A term I have heard time and time again. These words are the reason that many set up a blog and begin publishing content which they hope will provide them with an income. The problem is only the smartest and best bloggers survive. So what does it take to really begin making an income with your blog or website. Well you need to be ambitious really wanting to either make money online or become well known. It is this ambition that will keep you coming back sitting down at your computer day after day producing unique helpful thoughtful content. This will be the separating factor between blogs that do make it and the blogs that die a slow painful death. So how do you prevent the death of your blog.

First and most important you must have a foundational interest in what you are blogging about. If you are not really interested in your blog topic then after a while it will be easy to give it up. Don’t become one of the blogs that starts strong and after the first year (when the income potential is great) fall apart. Pick something which you have a deep passion for and blog every single day. It may seem easy, but if you miss a week the readers that you worked so hard to build up will quickly leave. One important aspect of blogging is building readers will be difficult, but losing readers quite easy. Do not take a week off if you are planning a vacation then write three or four extra articles and publish them during the time away from your computer. Personally one way that I have found around this is hiring another blogger or letting someone have author status on your blog so they can keep your content fresh.

So you set up a blog (hopefully wordpress) and picked a topic which you have true passion the final step is getting the content read. No matter what topic you choose if there is traffic you will have competition. There will always be other bloggers and webmasters who want the traffic you need to build an income. To beat these people and take the traffic which they are fighting for you will need to blog your heart out and learn SEO as well as internet marketing. If you are producing more helpful content than your competitors then the niche visitors will see that and choose your blog over your competitors. If you cannot compete with the amount of content your competitors are producing then I highly suggest you learn internet marketing and SEO like the back of your hand. Even though you cannot produce the same amount of content as your competitors it is still possible to beat them in search engines. No matter what you will need to fight for the traffic you get and the income you create through your blog.
