The following information has been collected through a great deal of research and study. Nothing stated by Google or Google’s SEO team confirms nor denies the topic discussed here.

This information has been gathered together by Internet affiliate marketing specialist Bruce Bates of the new and revised tweet exchange.

Well the truth to the question posed by this topic is yes, google does penalize for duplicate content, however there is a lot of misunderstanding behind this, so please read this and hear me out.

Facts be told, if you are serving syndicated content or legitimate duplicate content, you have nothing to worry about with duplicate content at all. Duplicate content is a very misunderstood term and most marketers get it wrong.

Google does penalize for duplicate content, but thats done via extensive footprinting on googles behalf. They take many factors into consideration. If this were not the case, think about the real damage of the duplicate content claims.

Think about researchers with PhD’s who publish findings that get duplcated across tens of thousands of sites legitimately. For example what would happen if a medical researcher published a new medical article, and that article got republished by 10,000 medical journals (this actually happens).

Or what would be the purpose of an article directory? They exist so others CAN copy content, if every site that copied content got penalties for it… holy crap why would anyone use the content? The truth is those rules exist to stop link farmers.

Google can see who owns 50 websites and is using the same content across all their sites. Google can see who is hosting exact content on multiple sites hosted by the same company. They can see who registers what domain names and if someone owning 100 domains is reusing content.

Legitamate uses for duplicate content do not harm a website.

Can I prove what I say? Can I backup my claims? Well I can’t back them up with google quotes or quotes from matt cutts this time, but I do have what I believe is valid evidence. Search google for “”Clickbank Stealth” “Bruce Bates” (keep the quotes on both terms when doing the search).

You will see dozens of articles all having EXACT SAME content. I don’t get penalized for it EVER! I have done this with thousands of articles. I do not spin my articles. I get GREAT results. I ave never had anything blacklisted by google. So, logic sesems to say, google is not penalizing sites as bad as people seem to think.

The point is, if you have a real reason to use duplicate content, go for it. If you have rss feeds that you syndicate, don’t stress it! Its not as bad as other make it appear.
