Making money with Google AdSense is one of the more misunderstood concepts in the online world. Just because getting an AdSense account is easy it does not make earning money with AdSense an easy proposition. The fact is that there are certain strategies that you will want to employ in order to maximize your earnings.
To make money with AdSense you will need traffic, specifically search traffic. Other forms of traffic such as traffic from social networks will generally make you a lot less money due to the fact that it is untargeted. Meanwhile the traffic that your site draws from the search engines is likely to be targeted to your content and the contextual ads that adsense displays.
I like to set up sites which target a single search phrase or keyword term. These sites are small and typically only have a few articles equaling only a couple thousand words in total. I can research, write the content for, and launch a small niche site in a matter of hours. I find that AdSense is the easiest way to monetize these sites as my copy does not have to be compelling. I do not have to convince my viewers that they need to buy a product to make money. I leave the prospect of converting traffic into sales to my advertisers. I only want to write content that triggers the correct AdSense ads. And, as you are probably aware, it is considerably more difficult to convince a buyer to make a purchase than it is to entice them to click an ad.
I have several sites that draw a hundred or so visitors from the search engines every day because they rank in the top three for a single search keyword. This traffic generally clicks on AdSense ads at a pretty high rate. In comparison I have had sites that drew traffic from social networks. My social traffic did not click on AdSense ads at nearly the rate of the search traffic.
If you create small sites that target search traffic you will need to create many sites. The more sites that you have under your umbrella the greater that your AdSense earnings can become. It is not uncommon for AdSense marketers to have hundreds, even thousands, of income producing websites. Naturally, it takes some time to build such a network from the ground up, but once you have an operational network you can make money from it for an indefinite amount of time.
With AdSense the only limit to your earnings is the amount of traffic that you are able to attract. If you build your websites properly, there is no reason that a person can not generate a full time income in matter of a few months. The sooner you get started, the sooner you will begin to see the fruits of your labor.
